who we are:

Afghan Parwana Circus for Children and Youth is a non-profit social circus organization dedicated to promoting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of afghan children and youth through participation in social circus and the performing arts.

parwana means butterfly…

….in Dari and Pashto, the national languages of Afghanistan. We chose this symbol for our circus because we want to give our children wings to fly as they grow and offer something beautiful to the world!

2024 Butterfly Campaign

Together we can give our afghan butterflies
wings to fly!

This year we are seeking to form a network of 100 sponsors committed to giving $10 a month to support our circus in school programs.  When we work together little things can have a big impact!

what we do

circus-in-school programs

Thanks to a partnership with the Ministry of Education, we are bringing the joy of circus to school kids.  Our on-campus programs provide physical education and recreation to support student’s healthy development.  We are currently working in three schools in Kabul, serving about 1500 students!

why we exist

TO CREATE A BRIGHTER WORLD FOR AFGHANISTAN’S CHILDREN AND YOUTH BY PROMOTING JOY, HOPE, AND PEACE THROUGH CIRCUS!

We believe all children need a safe community where they can laugh, learn, grow, and express themselves. In a country where many children have experienced trauma as a result of years of conflict this is especially important.  We are investing in the future generation, who are the hope of Afghanistan!
